Bald Head Island Wedding | Ashleigh and Alberto

Ashleigh and Alberto wanted to plan a small, intimate wedding and picked one of their favorite places on earth to host it: Bald Head Island.  Bald Head Island is a special place with it's gorgeous secluded beaches, forests of giant live oaks teeming with wildlife (foxes, deer, even alligators).  To get there you have to leave your vehicle, ferry over, and then everyone travels around the island by golf cart - so fun, right?!  It's no wonder that Ashleigh and Alberto picked this wonderful island for their wedding.

This beautiful wedding day was extra special to me because Ashleigh is my cousin!  I was so excited to capture this beautiful day for her and Alberto while simultaneously celebrating with family and friends.

When I arrived to the beautiful ocean front beach home I found Ashleigh and Alberto to be completely relaxed and happy - they were clearly just excited to see each other and finally tie the knot after dating since high school!

Every detail was a labor of love by all involved.  Ashleigh and her talented mother and sisters made the wedding favors and signage, Ashleigh's mom Darlene (who is a talented cake artist) made their amazing beach-inspired three-tier wedding cake, as well as designed their gorgeous floral arrangements and bouquets with flowers from A Southern Season

Enjoy a few selected images from their gorgeous beach wedding!

Barn at Valhalla Wedding | Ramya + Nathan

I spent a weekend documenting Ramya and Nathan’s amazing Indian Wedding at the Barn at Valhalla in Chapel Hill, and to say it was amazing barely does their wedding celebration justice.

Their traditional Indian ceremony took place Friday morning at sunrise.  It was such a beautiful, joyful (and colorful) event.  Afterwards they enjoyed a lunch, rested and prepared for the next days festivities.

The next day started with a short ceremony in which Ramya and Nathan talked about their journey to find each other and their promises to one another for their marriage (let’s just say dry eyes were scarce once they were finished).

The reception afterwards was full of so much fun and laughter.  Ramya and Nathan, and then family and friends all took turns performing dances for the audience (Can everyone just do this at every wedding? It was SO much fun!).

I tell all of my couples to really soak in their wedding day (or in this case, days), because it goes by even faster then they think it will.  Ramya and Nathan definitely achieved this - Whenever they had a moment alone together I could tell they really were taking it all in and appreciating just how amazing this moment was; to have so many friends and family gathered together to celebrate the start of their marriage.  They even both took a moment together on Saturday to meditate and be present before the celebration began, and it was the perfect was to start the evening off.  I wish the same calmness and presence of mind for all of my couples on what is always such a busy and exciting day.

Congratulations Ramya and Nathan!  I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and laughter together!  Here are a few selections from their beautiful wedding for you to enjoy:

The Oaks at Salem Wedding | Mark + Catherine | Raleigh NC Wedding Photographer

I enjoyed photographing Catherine and Mark's beautiful Oaks at Salem wedding so much.  Catherine and Mark are just the nicest people, who love their friends and family so well.  Their sweet ceremony was held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, followed by a gorgeous and fun reception at the Oaks at Salem in Apex.

I got to know Mark and Catherine during their engagement session, and I knew then that their wedding day would be wonderful - they are both super easy going and love to laugh.  Their wedding day was no different; they were completely happy and relaxed the entire day.

Catherine is one of FOUR beautiful sisters, and she made all three of her sisters her Maids of Honor - so sweet!  I loved seeing the dynamic between them and their incredible mom, Patty.  One of my favorite images of the day is a candid capture of Patty and Catherine's grandmother looking on as Catherine was buttoned into her wedding dress; their expressions conveyed so much love for her.  This is one of those images that reminds me why I love photographing weddings, and that capturing the real stuff (and not just the pretty stuff, though of course I love that too!) is so important to me.

Thank you Catherine and Mark for choosing me to document your special day, and congratulations!  Enjoy a few selected images from their beautiful wedding day:

Destination Wedding Unico 20º87º | Chasity + Evan

Chasity and Evan selected the incredible Unico 20º87º in Riviera Maya, Mexico as the venue for their destination wedding, and brought 30+ family and friends to celebrate the occasion with them.  Mother Nature threw them a major curve ball when she decided to pour buckets of rain over their entire wedding weekend (which apparently NEVER happens there), but not even torrential rain and wind could put a damper on this party.

The amazing staff at the hotel quickly went to Plan B, and moved the entire event indoors, and everything was perfect.  Chasity and Evan didn't let the last minute changes affect them whatsoever and I never saw a smile leave either of their faces.

And you guys - these wonderful people came here to have FUN!  I knew from the minute I met everyone that it was going to be an incredible wedding, and it did not disappoint.  Literally every guest (including the Bride and Groom) completely tore up the dance floor, and the tequila flowed all night long.  When in Mexico!

I have to add that Chasity and Evan are such a warm and kind couple, and took such good care of me the entire time I was there!  They treated me like family and even had a spot reserved at a guest table for me to join the party for dinner!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins!  Thank you so much for letting me document this incredible day for you!  Enjoy a few selections from their beautiful destination wedding!

Fair Barn Wedding Pinehurst NC | Aubrey + Brodie

I just love when couples incorporate traditions from their respective heritages into their wedding day; Brodie wore an amazing tartan kilt originally worn by his grandfather (who traveled all the way from Scotland for the occasion), while Aubrey incorporated special polish traditions into their day as well (one really hilarious one in particular where the groom wears a hat covered in vegetables and both the bride and groom are hoisted into chairs and carried around the room)!  Can I just make it a rule that all my couples be hoisted either into chairs or onto people’s shoulders and carried around?  Because it makes for some pretty epic images!

I always say that I have the best couples and Aubrey and Brodie were no different.  They truly enjoyed their wedding day and each other, and had so much fun celebrating with friends and family.  They laughed, smiled and danced the night away - it was pretty magical.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Wall! Enjoy a few select images from their beautiful Pinehurst wedding!

Virginia Historical Society Wedding | Austin + Amanda

Austin and Amanda were married at the beautiful Virginia Historical Society in Richmond, Virginia.  It was truly one of the most heartfelt and emotional weddings I've ever witnessed.  The love that these two have for each other could be felt by everyone around them, and they are so clearly adored by their family and friends.  It made for a day so full of emotion and happy tears that it reminded me why I love photographing weddings so much.

I really have too many favorite moments to share them all, but a few were Austin's emotion (and his family's) when he saw Amanda walking down the aisle, how he couldn't stop looking at her the entire day, and as Austin looked on while I photographed some bridal portraits of Amanda I overheard him tell someone "She's so damn beautiful".  Mop me off the floor people, I've melted into a puddle!

The night ended with the song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, and Amanda shared with me that her late step-father, who was also a DJ, played that song at the end of every wedding he worked.  Amanda's sweet mom was overcome with emotion when she heard the song come on, and it was such a sweet moment as Amanda and her mother embraced.

Prior to their wedding day, the only time I had met the couple was over FaceTime.  However I immediately felt a connection to both of them when I finally met them in person that morning.  I think that's just a testament to how kind and authentic they both are.  It is no wonder that all of their family and friends were so thrilled for them, they clearly are just the best kind of people and deserve a lifetime of happiness together!

Enjoy a few selected images from their amazing wedding day!

Country Club of Virginia Wedding | Carrington & Sean

Carrington and Sean got married at Cannon Memorial Chapel on the beautiful campus of The University of Richmond, and their reception was held at The Country Club of Virginia's James River Clubhouse.  It was such a happy and beautiful day!

I've been looking forward to this wedding since I first met Carrington and Sean during their engagement session.  They are both so kind and easy going I knew their wedding day would be wonderful, and it was!

Carrington was one of the most joyful brides I have ever worked with, she literally smiled and laughed the entire day - there is nothing better than a happy bride on her wedding day!  She also has a wonderful large family with lots of adorable kids; there were actually six flower girls and two ring bearers, who all miraculously made it down the aisle, not a single runaway!  I literally couldn't handle the cuteness.

Their french bulldog, Peaches (who I also first met at the engagement session), even made a brief appearance during the reception to snuggle the happy couple!  Pro tip: If you have a chance to take a break from your reception to snuggle your dog I highly recommend it :)

At the end of the night Carrington surprised Sean with an absolutely amazing getaway car: a 1983 DeLorean (Sean's favorite movie is Back to the Future, if you hadn't guessed)!

I am so grateful they chose me to document their wedding! Enjoy these selected images from their amazing day!

Lillie & Charlie | Raleigh NC Wedding Photographer

I adore fall weddings.  Lillie and Charlie got married on family-owned land on a misty day by a lake in Asheboro, and I won't lie and say I wasn't a little bit worried about whether their outdoor ceremony was going to go as planned.  Luckily the weather cooperated and they had the most beautiful foggy, misty background to their ceremony next to a gorgeous lake.

I was amazed at how cool and calm Lillie was beforehand, she didn't seem the least bit concerned or stressed, and I think that's a testament to how awesome she is.

Lillie and Charlie are just a FUN couple - and they are clearly dedicated to each other and to the people in their lives that they hold close.  The whole day was laid back and above all, fun.  These two (and all their guests for that matter) totally tore it up on the dance floor.  Man I love a good dance party!

I'm so glad this couple chose me to document their beautiful day!  A huge thank you to Jessica from Wild Line Weddings, it was such a pleasure working with you, and every detail was beyond beautiful!  And shout out to my girl Stephanie Bryan for second shooting with me - I love you!
