Intimate Film Maternity Session | Raleigh NC Lifestyle Photographer

My beautiful friend Sara reached out just days (literally) before her due date, wanting a quick and simple maternity session. Up until that point she hadn’t been sure if she wanted to do a maternity session but as the end of her pregnancy drew near she felt compelled to document this season of her life.

This impromptu session yielded some of my favorite maternity images I’ve ever done. I think it proved to me that maternity sessions should be kept simple and focus on documenting the feeling of anticipation as well as celebrating how amazing the female body and all it is capable of really is.

Man I LOVE this session.  Not only is this family completely gorgeous, but they are also just the nicest people.  I was so happy to have the chance to travel to Charlotte to photograph Zoe and Aaron's growing family after they welcomed their second son.

And can we talk about siblings for a second?  My heart goes flip flop when I'm taking pictures of older siblings loving on their baby brother or sister.  It's basically the sweetest thing ever, and a photograph that I know will be treasured forever.  Big brother Levi didn't disappoint, as he was so proud of his new baby and more than happy to love on him during our session.

Here are a few favorites from our home newborn session, enjoy!

I struggled with what to write about this newborn session, mainly because it meant the world to me and it's hard to put it into words just how much, but I'll try:

Kelley and Jon are among my husband and I's dearest and closest friends, and to say they are like family to us is not an exaggeration.

So when their first sweet Baby Boy was born still at 30 weeks, we cried for them - and with them.  The next year when they told us they were pregnant again, we cautiously rejoiced with them.  It wasn't until Juliana Rae was born on September 5th that we breathed a sigh of intense relief for this sweet family who had endured the worst and survived.

I gleefully traveled to Charlotte to meet and photograph this sweet girl shortly after she arrived, and didn't want to leave when it was over.  I'll forever be grateful to have been able to document this time for my dear friends.  Enjoy a few favorites from my time spent with some of my favorite people!
